Update: The West Orange-Stark High School coach reportedly driving the vehicle that claimed the lives of 25-year-old Ava Lewis and six-year-old daughter Lamya Newhouse, Carl Broussard, 53, of Vinton, resigned from his position at the school, reports WO-S representatives. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the vehicle involved in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident that claimed the life of an Orange resident Friday, Oct. 9.

In a news release, DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis reports 41-year-old Chad Eugene Shields of Orange was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle near mile marker 877 on eastbound Interstate 10 in Orange at about 12:40 a.m. Friday morning.
