Police in Beaumont are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man Feb. 27, reports Officer Haley Morrow.

According to Morrow, officers responded to shooting in the 3900 block of Sunbury Drive at about 5:45 p.m. They found the victim, identified as Levi Pruitt of Beaumont, injured at the scene. Pruit was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Daniel Francis has been in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $2 million since Oct. 11, 2016, facing allegations of murder and aggravated robbery, waiting to hear those two words that would set him free. Friday, Feb. 9, Francis got what he was looking for – mostly.

Last summer, violence rocked the city of Beaumont, and law enforcement agencies joined forces with pastors and other community leaders to combat criminal activity. They asked the community to take up that mantle, too, and the citizenry paid heed. Since then, reports the Beaumont Police Department, several violent criminals have been arrested and indicted based on tips and information provided by cooperating witnesses.

At a press conference Feb. 15, BPD Officer Haley Morrow recalled last year’s events and provided updates on some high-profile cases.


Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at 10:50 p.m., two suspects committed an aggravated robbery at the Shop N Save located at 2675 S. Fourth St.

The crime was captured on the store’s video surveillance system. The suspects are described as a heavy set, light skinned black male wearing a gray jacket with two blue stripes down the arms, camo shorts, and black Nike slides. The male is armed with a black rifle during the commission of the Robbery. Detectives believe that the second suspect, wearing the camo jacket and hospital mask, may be a black female.


Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office have identified “mostly skeletal” remains found in Pinehurst woods in October 2017 as 22-year-old Nathaniel Allen Anderson, who was reported missing months earlier. Foul play is suspected.


UPDATE (Jan. 4, 2018): Beaumont police have obtained a second murder warrant for a suspect in connection with the shooting of 20-year-old Anthony Green Dec. 28, reports Officer Haley Morrow. 

In a news release, Morrow stated that police are searching for David Bryant Parkerson, aka “Lil Dave”, a 22-year-old Beaumont man.


Police arrested a 19-year-old Port Arthur man after he allegedly robbed an elderly man at gunpoint as he returned from the ATM with cash Dec. 26, reports Chief Darrell Bush. The thief didn't get the man's money though and grabbed a napkin instead.

Two Jasper men were arrested on drug charges early Nov. 21 after the Jasper Police Department SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant on a residence in the 2400 block of Wheeler Street, reports Lt. G.W. Foster of the Criminal Investigations Division.

According to Jasper PD, the search warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Jasper PD Narcotics Division and yielded drug paraphernalia, items used in the packaging and distribution of narcotics, and cocaine.

Ky Lynn Brown

Ky Lynn Brown, 55, of Kountze, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.

Ky Brown was a lieutenant with the Beaumont Police Department. A32-year veteran of BPD serving on 3rd Watch Patrol, he was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer.
