Port Arthur police are still searching for a woman who hit a Port Arthur police officer with her car, PAPD Officer Michael Hebert said in a statement on Feb. 13.

A Jefferson County grand jury has indicted Joal Morgan Riley, 47, for aggravated assault upon a public servant, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office announced Feb. 8.

Riley’s indictment stems from an altercation Dec. 22. Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) reported a 911 call at 6:33 p.m. stating that an officer was being assaulted at Willow Lakes Apartments.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, at approximately 2:57 p.m., Port Arthur police officers responded to the 3900 block of Memorial Boulevard in reference to an auto/pedestrian accident, City of Port Arthur PIO LaRisa Carpenter said in a release.

On Jan. 27 at approximately 6:51 p.m., Port Arthur Police Department officers were dispatched to the Prince Hall Village Apartments in reference to locating a suspect, Kaleb Deand're Angelle, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Jefferson County, according to a PAPD release.

On Jan. 29 at 6:35 p.m., the Port Arthur Police Department received a 911 call about a major accident around the 8100 block of Memorial Boulevard and Highway 69 southbound, PAPD said in a release. 

Officers arrived at the scene and found that a woman was crossing the highway on foot and was struck by at least one vehicle. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Tom Gilliam who ordered an autopsy.

On Jan. 27 at 9:52 a.m., Port Arthur Police officers responded to an accident in the 1100 block of 8th Avenue, PAPD PIO Michael Hebert reported.

On Jan. 27, the Port Arthur Police Department received a call at 9:34 a.m. regarding a train derailment near the 2100 block of Highway 87, City of Port Arthur PIO LaRisa Carpenter reported.

In a Port Arthur neighborhood of single-family homes between two apartment complexes, many residents are reluctant to talk, speaking through cracked doors and burglar bars.

But not Grover Haynes. He says that he and his family have lived on Rev. Raymond Scott Avenue for the last 17 years.

On January 3, at 7:14 p.m., Port Arthur Police officers were dispatched to St. Mary's hospital in reference to a gunshot victim, according to a PAPD statement.

Upon arrival, officers received information that a victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg area. Further details were given in reference to the incident where it was found that the actual shooting took place at the Citgo gas station, 5266 Gulfway Drive. Officers responded to the location, where they established a crime scene.
