Sheriff pilots airboat during 2013 apprehension of accused carjackers

Orange County Sheriff Keith Merritt reportedly rescued two fishermen over the weekend after they got stuck in muddy marsh and became stranded while they were preparing for the Elite Series Bass Tournament coming to Orange in March, reports the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Two duck hunters stuck in the marsh near Adams Bayou and the Inter-Coastal Waterway in Orange were rescued by Sheriff Keith Merritt after calling the Orange County Sheriff's Office for help on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at about 7:40 a.m.

According to a news release from OCSO, the hunters were attempting to navigate a duck blind when the boat became stuck in the icy muck. The two men reportedly tired to free the boat for several hours but were unsuccessful.
