On Nov. 29, The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced that they were beginning to implement “Safe Phone Zones” throughout the state at 55 Safety Rest Areas and Travel Information Centers (TICs).

Construction and repairs along I-10 may cause traffic delays, TxDOT PIO Sarah Dupre said in a release on Dec. 13.

In Beaumont, expect delays along I-10 at the Neches River tonight 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. as crews work to replace road buttons.

The right lane of the Veterans Memorial Bridge on eastbown SH 73 will be closed today from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for maintenance and inspection, TxDOT said in a release.

The Veterans Memorial Bridge is the eastbound side of 73 going over the Neches River towards Bridge City. The historic Rainbow Bridge, built in 1936, carries traffic on the westbound side of 73.

Traffic flow will be affected by several road closures in Vidor, Beaumont and Winnie this week, TxDOT PIO Sarah Dupre said in a release. The repairs are scheduled for the following days, weather permitting.

The Texas Department of Transportation is asking for public input on the next section of Interstate 10 in preparation of widening the roadway from four lanes to six lanes between Winnie and Beaumont.

JASPER COUNTY - From TXDOT: At approximately 1:45p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a one vehicle crash on Highway 63 West in Jasper County. The crash occurred near Sandy Creek Bridge.

A Cadillac passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 63 towards Jasper. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled into the woods and struck a tree.
