June 25, the Beaumont Police Department (BPD) reported Darrin Dewayne White, 55, of Beaumont, had been arrested in connection to the May 30 murder of 66-year-old Beaumont resident Dorsey Sias.

A murder warrant was issued for White after BPD investigated a disturbance in the 900 block of Calder Avenue. They found Sias had been struck in the head several times with a baseball bat. The victim was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital and later died at the hospital.

BPD’s Special Assignment Unit also arrested White’s girlfriend, Ebony Kioka Ogwin, 46, of Beaumont, for hindering apprehension, a third-degree felony charge.

White had an unrelated parole violation for aggravated robbery and city of Beaumont warrants.

Bonds for neither White or Ogwin were set as of press time.
