A Vidor woman was indicted for aggravated assault by a Jefferson County grand jury on Jan. 25, having allegedly used her vehicle to run over the father of her child. The victim reportedly survived the attack.

The sworn affidavit for the arrest of Kaitlyn Ann Chance, 37, alleged she committed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – family violence – on Jan. 30, 2022. The charging instrument details the account of Nederland Police Department (NPD) officers that responded to a disturbance in a trailer park on Avenue H almost one year before Chance’s indictment.

“The victim was walking in front of her car, and she put it in drive and gassed it,” Chance allegedly told police at the scene. The victim and a bystander also told police that Chance revved the car and intentionally struck her child’s father with what police contend is a deadly weapon.
