A Vidor Police Department Street Crimes narcotics investigation in the 1200 block of Fourth St. led to the arrest of four people the night of Sunday, Sept 11, according to the department.

Officers entered with the homeowner’s consent and discovered synthetic marijuana, a water pipe, marijuana roaches, pipes and a homemade smoking bong.

The City of Vidor is accepting applications for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grants for fiscal year 2016-17, and the Sept. 7 deadline for eligible businesses to apply is fast approaching.

According to Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst, HOT grants are basically meant to put “heads into beds” at local hotels.

Police in Vidor arrested two apparently intoxicated women following a car crash on Aug. 10, reports the Vidor Police Department (VPD), but not before one of them allegedly assaulted an officer.

Two pools of mosquitoes on Beaumont's north end tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The first pool was collected on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at Carnegie Avenue and Tyler Street. A second pool was collected at Cable Avenue near I-10, reports Kevin Sexton, director of Jefferson County Mosquito Control District. They have been confirmed positive by the Texas Department of Health in Austin.

"This is not unexpected with the hot and dry weather we had for the last month. Because of the recent heavy rains throughout the area it is probably less of a threat now," Sexton said.

Aug. 3, at approximately 11 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was notified of a motorcycle crash on FM 2802 in Orange County. The crash occurred approximately three miles South of Vidor.

A 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on FM 2802 when it struck a black cow in the roadway.

Deputies of the Orange County Sheriff's Office are still investigating and have yet to make an arrest related to the stabbing of a 17-year-old in Vidor on July 18, reports Capt. Thomas Ray.

Police in Vidor arrested an Orange resident for multiple outstanding warrants after the motorcyclist's showboating warranted a traffic stop July 13, reports Officer Lee Brading of the Vidor Police Department.

A suspect identified by police as a member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) was arrested in Vidor July 8 for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia after callers reported the man was harassing female passersby, asking if they were "looking for a good time."
