Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) arrested a man in possession of 250 grams of suspected methamphetamine during a traffic stop Feb. 5, reports Detective Janois Grizzaffi.

Police in Vidor have arrested the same convicted felon for evading arrest and possession of drugs and firearms for the second time in two months, reports Vidor Police Department (VPD) Chief Rod Carroll. Officers arrested Branden Aaron Holeman, 39, of Orange County, on Feb. 2 following a previous arrest on similar charges, still pending, on Dec. 12.

Two men are behind bars in Jefferson County following a traffic stop initiated by a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy on Saturday, Feb. 2 at about 3:50 p.m.

According to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, a black Chevy Malibu was stopped on Interstate 10 near Smith road for speeding. The driver, identified as Bryan Roy, 30, of Vidor, was found to have an outstanding warrant for felony theft of a motor vehicle out of Louisiana.

Two Louisiana residents where arrested on Saturday, Jan. 12, after an attempted traffic stop lead to a car chase spanning three counties.

Due to the recent rain Orange County is offering free sandbags at three locations. The first location is at 10375 N. Hwy 87 in Orange, the second is at 2505 W. Roundbunch (FM 1442) in Bridge City and the third is at 345 Claiborne St. in Vidor. Those picking up sandbags are asked to bring their own shovel.

Orange County Sherriff’s Office encourages citizens to monitor lake, river and flood stage levels at www.setxasrain.org. 

Finally OCSO asked for citizen’s to be safe and “Turn around and don’t drown.”

A single-vehicle crash in Jasper County ended in the death of the driver Friday, Dec. 21. 

According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, DPS troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on FM 1131, near CR 873, in Jasper County. The crash occurred just South of FM 105.

 The Vidor Police Department recently announced the donation of a ballistic vest for K-9 Officer Rocky, and thanked the organization that provided the protective gear, which was donated by Vested Interest in K-9s.

Dunkin' is thanking veterans for their service by offering them a free sweet treat on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. 

According to the company, it is maintaining its long-standing tradition of honoring veterans and supporting U.S. troops.

A Vidor man has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter following a fatal June accident that claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman, reports Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sgt. Stephanie Davis.

According to Davis, 36-year-old Blake Travis Bowen was arrested the morning of Oct. 26 following the issuance of an indictment against him for intoxication manslaughter in Orange County.
