Beaumont Community Players’ KIDmunity 2022 Troupe will present “The Addams Family – The Musical” on Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30, at 7 p.m. inside the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts (4155 Laurel St.) in Beaumont.

“The Addams Family” a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

“The Addams Family, like everything we do at Beaumont Community Players is more about the journey than the destination,” said BCP Executive Director John Manfredi. “In our KIDmunity programs especially we emphasize how we achieve our goals not just reaching them. This approach to the work is why we chose this particular play and I couldn’t be prouder of this team. In our production of The Addams Family, the outsiders accept themselves for who they are regardless of what the ‘world wants from them’ then through the course of the play are taught acceptance of others by their interaction with the ‘normal’ world. Simultaneously, the normal world overcomes their fear of the ‘different’ all culminating in a joyous convergence of love and acceptance.”
