Manslaughter suspect Lonnie Rogers
A Nederland man was arrested Nov. 10 in connection to the October death of a woman reportedly thrown from a vehicle in Port Arthur.
According to officials, officers with the Port Arthur Police Department responded to the area of Lake Arthur Dr. and 9th Ave. in reference to a female who was possibly thrown from a vehicle just before 10 a.m. on Oct. 15. Upon arrival, the victim, later identified as 27-year-old Madison Martinez, was located in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
Nov. 10, an arrest warrant for manslaughter was issued for Lonnie Rodgers, 48, out of Nederland. Rodgers was taken into custody without incident a short time after the warrant was issued, Port Arthur police report.
The death of Madison Martinez is an ongoing investigation, according to the Port Arthur Police Department.
