School threatened, placed on lockdown

The afternoon of Sept. 13, Beaumont ISD’s Odom Academy middle school campus was placed under a "secure lockout" when a threat in the form of a letter was received by campus leadership.

“Safety protocols were immediately initiated and the BISD Police Department and the district’s explosive detection K9 was dispatched to sweep the campus’ interior and exterior areas,” a message from administration recited. “Students should be aware that all threats are taken very seriously and will not be tolerated. The safety and security of our students is a top priority and the investigation is ongoing.”
