Admitted embezzler and former Beaumont Independent School District assistant superintendent Patricia Adams Collins Lambert was sentenced to spend 40 months in prison and pay back $500,000 in restitution. The charges stemmed from theft from programs receiving federal funds and conspiracy to submit false statements concerning standardized test scores while she was employed with the local school district.

A fatal accident in Orange County June 8 claimed the life of a Jasper resident, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper David Henry reported in a news release.

According to Henry, Orange County troopers responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 62 at the intersection of North Ridge Drive at about 8:30 a.m. The preliminary crash investigation indicated a 2005 International truck was stopped and facing north on S.H. 62 waiting to turn left onto North Ridge Drive when it was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge van, Henry stated.
