Jefferson County District Attorney Cory Crenshaw announced on Tuesday, Aug. 26, that 30-year-old Alberto Solis of Groves pleaded guilty to assisting in the murder of Ubaldo Santiago Hernandez in late 2011. As part of the plea, Solis was sentenced by Drug Impact Court Judge Larry Gist to a term of 20 years in the state penitentiary.

Andy Lee House, 39, of Lufkin pleaded guilty to federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas for purposely wrecking his $1 million Bugatti and claiming more than $2 million in insurance proceeds, according to U.S. Attorney John Malcolm Bales. Southern Pacific Depot in Orange

The Friends of the Orange Depot is still raising funds to transform the historic Southern Pacific Depot in Orange from a long-abandoned train station into a must-see museum and more for both visitors from the area and travelers from abroad. In furtherance of their noble efforts to educate and inspire tourists and local adventurers by revitalizing the historic structure, the Friends are hosting their first Depot Day at the Pavilion in Orange on Saturday, Oct. 18, and everyone is invited.

A 40-year-old Nederland man has been convicted of drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced in a Friday, Aug. 22 press release.
