Jury selection is underway in the case against accused abusive mother Christine Johnson, who allegedly yanked her one-month old daughter Faith Mason causing the infant severe injuries in what was a highly publicized incident in 2013.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, officers with the Beaumont Police Department responded to the 5500 block of Calder in reference to an alarm and were soon notified that a robbery had just occurred at the convenient store. According to the clerk, a black male 5’7” approximately 160 lbs, dressed in all black and wearing a camouflage mask and gloves entered the store with a pistol and demanded money from the clerk.

Jacob Davis’ Eagle Scout project was more than just a chore for the 16-year-old Beaumont teen. He completed the wheelchair accessible planter’s box not only for Calder Woods residents to enjoy, but also in hopes of stimulating his grandfather’s memories of working in his garden when he lived at home.

Dancers from Ashland’s Affirming Arts Studio visited Calder Woods retirement community in Beaumont on Monday, July 27, to entertain residents. Resident Edith Lee, 99 (pictured), especially enjoyed the visit. Ashland’s Affirming Arts Studio owner Ashley Landry-Breaux said the studio regularly visits retirement communities in the area. “This is something that we do,” Landry-Breaux said.
