On June 8, at about 12:30 p.m., the Beaumont Police Department was called to the 800 block of Porter in reference to a shooting victim. 

Officers' preliminary investigation revealed an ongoing disturbance between several individduals in the area led to an exchange of gunfire.

During the incident, a female bystander was struck in the shoulder. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

BPD reports the investigation is ongoing.


The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a single vehicle accident took place June 9 at about 4 a.m. on FM 1135 in Orange County.


The Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force made an arrest on June 5 following an anonymous tip.

After receiving the tip, members of the task force conducted a traffic stop on the reported vehicle. Further investigation during the traffic stopped proved the driver was found to be in possession of narcotics.

The driver was identified as James Vosburgh, 53, of China. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and trasnferred to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.


The Beaumont Police Department reported two Harris County men were arrested for robbing a Lucas Street pawn shop on June 5.

At about 4:30 that day, Beaumont police officers responded to EZ Pawn in response to a panic alarm. An employee at the business told officers they had just been robbed by two black males.


A 48-year-old Mexican national illegally living in the Beaumont area was sentenced to prison for federal immigration violations in the Eastern District of Texas.

Jose De Jesus Rocha-Perez pleaded guilty on Dec. 27 to illegal reentry by a previously deported alien and was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison on May 31 by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone.
