The Vidor Indepedent School District and the Vidor Police Department are bringing "National Night Out" to Vidor on Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pirate Stadium on the High School grounds, located at 500 Orange St.

Attendees can enjoy free hot dogs and drinks and games on the field with police officers. The Vidor Rotary "Green Bus" will be giving away free books to kids of all ages, and emergency vehicles galore will be at the stadium for patrons to explore.

Two suspected burglars attempted to evade arrest by Beaumont police officers, with a 8-month old child in the car, after allegedly breaking into a home the night of Thursday, Sept. 6.

Three arrests for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 were made on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 4:28 p.m. after the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force was conducting an operation and surveillance on known meth dealers delivering narcotics in the area of Beaumont.

On September 4, at about 9:30 p.m., the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force and Traffic Unit conducted a joint operation with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Explosives in Beaumont. Through the use of undercover officers, detectives were able to identify two suspected methamphetamine dealers in the area of College Street and Major Drive.

A 41-year-old Jackson, Georgia man has been indicted and charged with federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Joseph D. Brown Sept. 6.

Oaka Donrez Adams was indicted by a federal grand jury on Sep. 5, and charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone.
