More than 33 local nonprofit organizations will help improve the quality of life in Southeast Texas thanks to recent grant awards from the Entergy Charitable Foundation. The foundation is funded by shareholders of Entergy Corporation and supports strategic investments in education, environmental programs and poverty solutions in communities served by Entergy.

A city of Beaumont dump truck driver picking up debris with his truck's boom caused widespread power outages Thursday, June 19, when the driver lifted his boom too high and entangled it with power lines on the corner of Sixth and Long streets.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) are recognizing 118 awardees for their commitment to saving energy and protecting the environment. Recipients of the 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award include Houston companies CenterPoint Energy, Hines, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, and Transwestern and Beaumont’s Entergy Texas.
