ExxonMobil put out an early morning fire at its Beaumont refinery crude unit Tuesday, Nov. 28. The fire was reported around 6 a.m. on the south side of the refinery.

"Onsite responders quickly extinguished the fire, and there were no injuries," said Ashley Alemayehu, Beaumont Area Public and Government Affairs Manager for ExxonMobil Corporation.

Initial air quality monitoring shows no off-site impact, Alemayehu said.

Police didn’t find a burglar when they responded to a burglar alarm at Popeyes restaurant on Phelan Boulevard on Monday, Nov. 27, at 4:15 a.m., but they did find a fire, Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Jimmy Blanchard said in a release.

Beaumont Police patrol officers notified the fire department, and the fire crews arrived within minutes, according to Blanchard.

“The fire crews made quick work of a fire in the kitchen of the restaurant,” Blanchard said. “There were no injuries.”

The business will be closed until repairs can be made.

Beaumont Fire-Rescue units battled a raging two-alarm fire at Torres Collision in the 1500 block of Laurel Drive in the early morning hours Nov. 21, reports Capt. Brad Penisson.

On Sept. 26, shortly after 1 p.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue units responded to a reported commercial structure fire at Ben's Alternator Service on South 11th Street, the department posted on their Facebook page.

Thursday, Sept. 21, around noon, a fire was reported in the 2900 block of Victoria. The caller said an apartment was on fire but when the fire department arrived, they found a two-story house with fire coming from one of the windows upstairs. The first fire engine on scene, Engine 10, made an interior attack. Fire damage was contained to the second floor. Smoke and water damage were sustained through the rest of the house. All occupants made it out of the residence prior to the fire department arriving but one family pet, a dog, perished.

On Monday, August 14, just after 6:30 a.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue responded to the 5000 block of Maddox Drive due to reports of a house on fire, Capt. Jimmy Blanchard said in a release.

Tuesday, Aug. 8, around 8 p.m., firefighters were sent to the 550 block of Highland Drive for an apartment fire. When firefighters arrived they found a six-unit apartment building with heavy flames coming from an upstairs unit.

The initial crews on seen were concentrating on attacking the fire and helping the occupants out of the building. The fire was contained to one unit, but three units received damage from smoke and water.

The occupants all escaped the building without injury.

On Saturday, August 5, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Beaumont Fire-Rescue firefighters responded to a structure fire reported at 3557 Grand Avenue with occupants still in the house, Beaumont Fire-Rescue Capt. Brad Penisson said in a release.

As of 8:30 the morning of Tuesday, July 25, the Port Arthur Fire Department terminated the emergency incident at German Pellets. This incident has been ongoing since April 15, and PAFD has had personnel on-site 24/7. The remaining silo temperatures are in the normal range and cleanup of the site continues. PAFD will continue to attend daily meetings and monitor the site until the remaining silos are empty. This incident is one of the longest in PAFD history lasting 102 days.
