Join the Gift of Life and thousands of “Champions of the Cause” as downtown Beaumont erupts in color Saturday, Oct. 1, at the sixth annual Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run Color Rush presented by the Byrd Law Firm, with title sponsors H-E-B and Jason’s Deli.

The event starts at 8 a.m. at City Hall with same day registration at 6 a.m.

Geralyn Lucas, 20-year cancer survivor, author, speaker and mom from New York City was wowed by Texas-style chivalry as she was ushered onto the stage during her recent speaking engagement at the Gift of Life Survivor Celebration at the MCM Eleganté on Thursday, Feb. 4. In fact, she described everything about her Southeast Texas experience as an immersion in charm, warmth and hospitality.

Experience the joy of camaraderie and color, and honor the strength, courage and spirit of cancer survivors as Gift of Life presents the fifth annual Julie Richardson Procter 5K Ribbon Run Color Rush, scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in downtown Beaumont.

Through the support of Jon Huntsman Sr., board member of the Beaumont Foundation of America, 34 medically underserved Southeast Texas women received free Gift of Life clinical breast exams and mammograms on the UTMB mobile van at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Beaumont last week. One client who had an abnormal mammogram screening was referred immediately for diagnostic testing, which is also completely underwritten by the Gift of Life.
