The Beaumont Police Department was called to a residence in the 600 block of Elgie in reference to shots fired on Friday, Oct. 18, just before midnight. When officers arrived, the found a gunshot victim deceased inside the residence. 

According to witnesses at the scene, a suspect entered the residence, shot the victim the fled in a silver, older model SUV. The victim was identified as 57-year-old Billy Joe Hayes, a Beaumont resident. 


Police are investigating a homicide at the Best Value inn motel at 1155 Interstate 10 in Beaumont on Friday, Dec. 21. 

According to the Beaumont Police Department, officers responded to a call in reference to shots fired at the best Value inn. Upon arrival officers discovered a deceased victim with gunshot wounds, identified as 30-year-old Beaumont man Reginald D. Eaglin, laying next to a vehicle in the parking lot. 


Port Arthur Police officers with the help of the Jefferson County warrant division arrested 69-year-old OC Thomas on Nov. 21, for the October murder of Michael Lynn Thomas, 56 of Port Arthur. 

Information from PAPD shows Michael Thomas was shot in the torso Oct. 24 at Fabric Care WAashateria on 25th Street in Port Arthur. At the time, he was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Bond for OC Thomas is set at $1.5 million.

Herbert Wayne Collins, a 38-year-old Beaumont man, was arrested as a suspect in the murder of 29-year-old Bradison Allen Mims near the corner of North and Ewing on Tuesday, Oct. 16. 

According to BPD, on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 2:41 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Ewing in reference a victim of a shooting.  Upon arrival officers discovered Mims who had been shot several times. Collins was picked up the same day in the 2400 block of Delaware around 4:30 p.m.

Beaumont Police are investigating a homicide of 29-year-old Bradison Allen Mims near the corner of North and Ewing Tuesday, Oct. 16, according to Beaumont Police. Beaumont Police received the call around 2:52 p.m. 



Police in Port Arthur are investigating a July 25 shooting that left a 49-year-old man dead.

Officer with the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) responded to a call reporting shots fired at the Prince Hall Village Apartments at 914 W. 14th St. in Port Arthur at 10:22 p.m. The officers were soon informed a subject had been shot at the location.

Upon arrival to the apartment complex, officers found the male victim, identified as Floyd Dergent, apparently deceased and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Two people have been arrested that Beaumont Police Department Detectives believe are responsible for the murder of Olajuwon Vaughns.

Tuesday, July 24, at 1:10 p.m., Beaumont police responded to Autumn Oaks Apartments at 3190 Eastex in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Olajuwon Vaughns, a 23-year-old Beaumont man. Beaumont EMS arrived on scene and pronounced Vaughns deceased.

When Officers arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Vaughns, a 23-year-old Beaumont man. Beaumont EMS arrived on scene and pronounced Vaughns deceased.

June 26, 2018, the Beaumont Police Department Person’s Unit began assisting with a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) homicide investigation in Louisiana. Two Beaumont residents, Ronald Gene McLain, 57, and Kenneth Dawayne Williams, 32, were identified as murder suspects in the CPSO investigation, and warrants were issued for their arrest. BPD detectives assisted CPSO with the investigation for several days. June 29, McLain was arrested in Aransas Pass, Texas, and July 3, Williams turned himself in at the Beaumont Police Department.




Beaumont Police have released an update on the Yasin Jones homicide, which took place Thursday June 7 at 5680 Concord.
