One woman is dead and another in jail after a fatal shooting in Orange County on July 7, deputies report.

According to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, on Monday at about 10:06 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a shooting in the 6900 block of Swisher Street in Mauriceville.

The victim of a shooting arrived at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont Sunday morning prompting an investigation by the Beaumont Police Department.

A man in Beaumont refused treatment and refused to file charges after being shot as the result of an altercation that was reportedly initiated by the victim in retaliation of an unreported armed robbery on the morning of April 24.

At 12:03 p.m. on Thursday April 24, officers of the Beaumont Police Department were dispatched to 2555 Sweetgum Rd. in reference to a victim of a shooting, police report. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was suffering from a very minor wound to his right buttock.

Port Arthur police responded to reports of a vehicle accident in the 1400 block of Peck Avenue on March 27 at about 1:50 p.m. When they got there, they discovered the vehicle had been the subject of a carjacking and an ensuing struggle with the suspect ended in a fatal officer-related shooting, PAPD reports.

Deputies and U.S. Marshals attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant were met with armed resistance by a man with a loaded gun in the 800 block of F.M. 1131 in Vidor on Feb. 25, according to a news release from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Port Arthur Police are investigating two incidents from the evening of Sunday, Jan. 26, that they believe are related. While responding to the first call regarding shots fired in the 300 block of 9th Street at approximately 10:13 p.m., PAPD received a second call about a shooting victim in the 900 block of 10th Street.

Police in Orange are looking for suspects in the shooting death of 35-year-old Emanuel Thornton of Orange, who was shot multiple times while in the front yard of a residence.

According to a news release from the Orange Police Department, on Thursday, Jan. 23, at about midnight, police dispatch received a call regarding shots fired in the 1500 block of Carter Street. Upon arrival at the scene, officers saw Thornton lying in the yard with multiple gunshot wounds. Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Rodney Price pronounced Thornton dead at the scene and ordered an autopsy.
