Top graduates from Southeast Texas honored

Beaumont ISD graduated three campuses this past weekend. The top graduates were named as: 

• Brady Redding, valedictorian of Beaumont United High School, has received several honors, including the State of Texas House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition for House District 22 in 2023 and the National Math and Science Initiative STEM Star Award in 2022 and 2023. Redding plans to major in government at the University of Texas at Austin and then attend law school. His ultimate goal is to work as a lawyer in public interest litigation. 

• Emily Gonzalez, valedictorian of Beaumont Early College and member of the National Honor Society, is also earning an Associate of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT). She has also been named to the LIT President's List and achieved “A” Honor Roll status each year of high school. Gonzalez plans to attend Lamar University to major in business. 

• Jason “Jay” Norman, valedictorian of West Brook High School, has served as the Community Service delegate for West Brook Red Cross and was named a National Merit finalist by the National Honor Society (NHS). Norman plans to attend Rice University to major in prelaw.

• Thursday, May 23 — Lumberton HS, 7 p.m. at Doggett Ford Park in Beaumont; Kountze HS, 7 p.m. at Lion Stadium; Port Neches-Groves HS, 7 p.m. at Indian Stadium; and Vidor HS, 7:30 p.m. at Pirate Stadium. 

• Friday, May 24 — Harmony Science Academy in Beaumont, 6 p.m. at the Downtown Event Centre; Silsbee HS, 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium; Evadale HS, 7 p.m. in the gymnasium; West OrangeStark HS, 6 p.m. at the WO-C Event Center; Port Arthur Memorial HS, 7 p.m. at Doggett Ford Park; Bridge City HS, 8 p.m. at Larry Ward Stadium; and Legacy Christian Academy, 7 p.m. at the school. 

• Saturday, May 25 — Orangefield HS, 10 a.m. and Little Cypress-Mauriceville, 2 p.m. at the Lamar University Montagne Center. 

• Thursday, May 30 — Nederland HS, 7 p.m. at Doggett Ford Park. 

• Friday, May 31 — West Hardin CISD, 6 p.m. at the Jefferson Theater in Beaumont. 

• Saturday, June 1 — Hardin-Jefferson HS, 10 a.m. at Doggett Ford Park.
