When’s the last time you’ve been inside a skating rink? Manning’s Texas on Wheels Roller Skating Rink is hosting an “Adults Only Skate” beginning at 10 p.m. this Saturday, June 15, for ages 21 and older. If you don’t have a pair of roller skates don’t worry, they can be rented for $5. FYI, the roller skate was invented in 1760 and nearly a century later in 1863, James Plimpton revolutionized the roller skater by inventing a skate with four wheels, two pairs set side by side. Skating took off in the 1950s and roller rinks became the scene during the disco days in the 1970s.
