After receiving over 50 applications for the position of Beaumont Police Chief, the top five applicants have been selected with the help of executive search firm, Affion Public, according to City Manager Kenneth Williams.

Next, a committee of community leaders will have a Q&A session with the candidates. This will allow the committee to attest to the community of each candidate’s qualifications, character, fit, and ability to serve as Police Chief for Beaumont. This is part of the city canager’s effort to arrive at a transparent decision in recommending an appointee to the City Council for consideration.

The public will also get the chance to talk with the five remaining candidates during a meet and greet reception on July 10 from 6-8 pm at the Downtown Event Centre. The candidates will then conduct in-person interviews on July 11, with Williams, two assistant city managers, and the city attorney.

“When citizens feel safe, they are more likely to engage in local activities, support businesses, and invest in their neighborhoods,” said Williams. “The new police chief must be committed to fostering trust, transparency, and collaboration with residents, while proactively addressing crime and implementing innovative safety strategies. By prioritizing public safety in this selection, Beaumont can uphold its commitment to a secure and thriving environment, where citizens and their families feel protected and valued. We believe we have a slate of candidates who can deliver on that expectation.”
