Local federal magistrate Judge Keith Giblin has returned to his roots and joined the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office as Executive Assistant District Attorney under District Attorney Bob Wortham, who has announced his decision not to run for the 2022 term of office.

“It’s a bit like coming home,” an announcement of the move heralded. Thirty-one years ago, Wortham hired Giblin as a prosecutor in the federal prosecuting U.S. Attorneys Office in Beaumont. “With the recent announcement of Wortham retiring at the end of 2022, Giblin plans to run for the seat.”

Giblin said this move will give him the opportunity to continue to serve in his hometown. A formal announcement of Giblin’s bid for the District Attorney’s elected position will take place at a later date.
