The Texas Department of Public Safety reports a one vehicle rollover crash on FM 1005 in Jasper County Tuesday, Oct. 25 around 7:00p.m. The crash occurred approximately a half mile north of FM 252.

A 1998 Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound on FM 1005. For an unknown reason, the driver left the roadway. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver of the Ford, 58-year-old Marshall Glenn Cooper of Magnolia Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mike Smith. Cooper was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Police in Orange are investigating a stabbing that resulted in injuries to a city resident Oct 26.

According to a news release from the Orange Police Department, officers, along with the Orange Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance, responded to the 1000 block of Ruby Lane at 12:46 a.m. in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a 25-year-old male victim, with apparent stab wounds to his arms and one leg, seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment of his wounds.

A 56-year-old former Jefferson County, Texas schoolteacher who was found to possess "thousands" of illegal images of children has been sentenced to federal prison for child exploitation violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston Oct. 25.

A 19-year-old Beaumont, Texas man has been sentenced for federal wildlife violations in the Eastern District of Texas announced Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston.

Trey Joseph Frederick pleaded guilty on May 23, 2016 to a violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and was sentenced to five years of federal probation today by U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn. As part of his probation, Frederick is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms, ammunition or any other dangerous weapon. He is also prohibited from hunting or fishing anywhere in the United States.

Monday, Oct. 24, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety says troopers responded to a two vehicle crash on SH 63 about 9 miles East of Zavalla.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2011 Nissan SUV and a 2014 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer were both traveling East on SH 63. The driver of the Nissan reportedly applied the vehicle brakes to avoid striking a deer and was struck from behind by the Peterbilt.
