As Rodney Dencklau lay struggling on the ground next to his overturned wheelchair waiting for emergency responders, he thought about a dilemma he and other persons with disabilities, especially around here, have to deal with regularly – navigating their way across a city designed for “normal” people, people who can walk.

U.S. Representative Brian Babin, who represents Orange County, among others, in Texas District 36, met with NASA astronaut Scott Kelly of Orange, New Jersey, to wish him luck as he prepared to make history Friday, March 27, by embarking on a year-long mission to the International Space Station.

Babin spoke on the House floor Thursday, March 26, regarding the importance of Kelly’s mission.

The Port Arthur City Council voted unanimously at its March 31 meeting to approve a forensic audit of the city’s finances, an audit requested by Jefferson County’s First Criminal District Attorney Cory Crenshaw in December 2014 correspondence while he was acting as interim DA, and demanded by Port Arthur citizens.
