ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex flaring in background of Port of Beaumont

Fire and smoke billowing into downtown Beaumont’s dreary dark afternoon sky about 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Jan. 21, caused citizen alarm and Lamar University to suspend classes. The emissions were generated from the ExxonMobil Beaumont Complex, according to company Public and Government Affairs Manager Lee Dula.

If all the resources available to the U.S. Attorney’s Office were channeled to solely combat child exploitation, there still wouldn’t be enough manpower to adequately bring all the perpetrators to justice, according to Eastern District of Texas U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Chief Alan Jackson.
