Cache of stolen weapons

Tuesday evening, July 17, the Beaumont Police Department detained five suspects in the 7100 block of Eastex who are believed to be involved in numerous burglaries throughout the City of Beaumont and Jefferson County. 

“The suspects were in possession of a cache of stolen weapons and other property,” an information release from BPD states. “This is the early stages of the investigation as detectives are interviewing the suspects and following up with more information.”


Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) deputies arrested two Vidor men on multiple warrants and then reportedly found methamphetamine in their vehicle after a traffic stop July 16.

Criminal Investigator and Public Information Office Janois Strause Grizzaffi reports detectives working along Interstate 10 near Concord in Vidor observed a white 2002 Ford F250 change lanes without first signaling its intent. The vehicle was then observed to travel in and out of its lane of traffic on several occasions. A traffic stop was initiated as the truck exited Interstate 10 at Highway 1442.

Daniel Adam Billingsley

Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham announced today that Daniel Adam Billingsley, 37, was found guilty by a jury on three cases of aggravated sexual assault of a child on July 13, 2018. Billingsley elected for the Court to assess punishment, and Judge Larry Gist sentenced Billingsley to 50 years in the Institutional Division of Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Judge Gist ordered for two of the cases to run concurrent and for the third case to run consecutive, resulting in a 100-year sentence.


Jessica Talmadge, 29, of Buna was pronounced deceased Monday, July 16 after being found on the shoulder of Highway 12 in Orange County on the morning of Saturday, July 14. 

According to a statement by Texas Department of Public Safety at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of an injured woman on the improved shoulder of Highway 12 in Orange County.

DPS Troopers responded to the area of Highway 12 and FM 1136.  Troopers located Talmadge lying on the westbound shoulder of Highway 12 with severe injuries.


Beaumont Police Department is hosting the Citizen’s Police Academy Thursday, August 9. The training program is free and lasts 15 weeks that meet every Thursday starting August 9 and ends November 15. The weekly class starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. There are also two hands on-training classes that are on Saturday.

The program is for adults who are 18 and older. It is held two times each year and was designed to educate and expose community members to the operations of law enforcement.

Participants must apply and be registered to participate.
