Orange Police are currently investigating an attack that occurred over the weekend in Orange. Four suspects allegedly attacked a 42-year-old Orange resident on Sunday, April 7, at approximately 1:34 p.m., striking the man with a brick and a large stick while he was walking in the 300 block of Schley Ave. in Orange, police reported.

After at least six robberies in the Beaumont and Lumberton area, including one home invasion involving a mother and her three children, police have identified and detained those they believe responsible for the crime spree.

Groves Police

Two white male juveniles were taken into custody over the weekend after threatening to harm a student via a social media networking site. The two fourteen-year-old boys were students of Groves Middle School and were making terroristic threats to another middle school student via Facebook, according to Lt. Kirk Rice of Groves Police Department.

"The threat was reported on Friday," Rice said. "Two eighth-grade students took part in making threats to do harm via Facebook. The victim was a sixth-grade student."

A 28-year-old Beaumont man has been sentenced to federal prison for burglarizing a bank in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales.

Michael Anthony Jones pleaded guilty of bank burglary on January 14 and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison today, April 5, by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone. Jones was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,908.50.
