Shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, July 10, reports started to come into the Beaumont Police Department that former Beaumont ISD electrician Calvin Walker and wife Stacy were involved in a domestic disturbance that escalated from their home on Roland Road to another part of the city, with witnesses claiming that Calvin, while driving in a black truck, ran into the vehicle driven by his wife as she attempted to flee.

Further reports are that Calvin Walker also damaged at least one other vehicle at the home before chase ensued that took the couple from their home.

“This is the beginning,” Greater Rising Sun Baptist Church Pastor Charles Gregory said as he took a brief respite following three hours of touring Beaumont in the Texas summer sun with fellow clergy. The group spent the afternoon and early evening of Saturday, June 24, praying for an end to the violence that has overshadowed the city, cementing a presence in the neighborhoods most affected. “But I tell you this: It’s not even close to the ending.”

Local law enforcers executing a narcotics search warrant in the 3100 block of Gulf Street in Beaumont reportedly found meth, marijuana and a cache of weapons - weapons that officers believe could be related to recent gun violence in the area.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 35-year-old Beaumont man that occurred on Magnolia Street in an area of the city that has been recently rocked by gun violence, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to BPD, officers responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Magnolia at 11:05 p.m. on June 29. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a deceased male victim with gunshot wounds lying in the grassy area near the apartment complex. Police identified the man as Cedathion Rashard Dill.

At approximately 8 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near the Neches River bridge, in Orange County.

Initial reports indicated that a Honda Civic was traveling westbound  in the inside lane on Interstate 10 followed by a Kia passenger vehicle.  Due to normal morning traffic, both vehicles began to slow down when the Kia was rear-ended by a Chevrolet pickup truck.  The impact of the collision caused the Kia to rear-end the Honda.

Numbers are still not finalized for 2016. However, preliminary information available nationally suggests most cities have seen a spike in the number of violent crimes committed, according to information compiled at the Department of Justice. And Southeast Texas is no exception.

Andrew, Kera and Alaya Teel

Thursday, July 6, the family of murder victims Kera and Kyndal Teel are entering into litigation against the apartment complex where the mother and her yet-unborn daughter fell victim to a gunman’s bullets.

Surviving family, Kera’s husband Andrew, and the couple’s daughter Alaya, are among the plaintiffs alleging owners of Beaumont’s Sienna Apartment Homes failed to maintain adequate security measures that could have deterred or prevented the death.

Currently under indictment for alleged felonious business practices that resulted in millions of dollars in losses to taxpayers of both Beaumont and Port Arthur as the owner and operator of Walker’s Electric Company, former Beaumont Independent School District electrical contractor Calvin Walker filed to open up an electrical service business last month under a new assumed name.

Filed May 4, Walker is now the proud owner of the business name Hardwired Electrical Solutions, registered at 1520 Park St., Beaumont.

Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 6:20 p.m., Beaumont police responded to Collier’s Ferry Park at 5360 Pine St. in reference to body being located. Overnight, detectives were able to identify the victim as Catherine Jane Dungan, a 54-year-old Beaumont woman. At this time, BPD has been unable to locate next of kin. Detectives are following several leads; however, anyone who was in the area of Collier’s Ferry Park between the hours of 5-6 p.m. Saturday is asked to call the Beaumont Police Department at (409) 832-1234.
