Two people have been arrested that Beaumont Police Department Detectives believe are responsible for the murder of Olajuwon Vaughns.

Tuesday, July 24, at 1:10 p.m., Beaumont police responded to Autumn Oaks Apartments at 3190 Eastex in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Olajuwon Vaughns, a 23-year-old Beaumont man. Beaumont EMS arrived on scene and pronounced Vaughns deceased.

Beaumont Police Department are investigating the homicide of 23-year-old Beaumont man Olajuwon Vaughns.

According to a press release by BPD, on Tuesday, July 24, at about 1:10 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to 3190 Eastex in reference to a Victim of a Shooting. When Officers arrived, they located the victim, later identified as Vaughns, a 23-year-old Beaumont man. Beaumont EMS arrived on scene and pronounced Vaughns deceased.

One of the suspects in a robbery, 18-year-old Beaumont resident Jaquorian Oshae Bourgeois, was taken into custody Tuesday, July 24.

July 21, 2018 at approximately 7:18 a.m. the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force and the sheriff’s SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 7064 Hillebrandt Road in Beaumont.

The Narcotics Task Force had been conducting an investigation in reference to methamphetamine being sold from inside the residence. The Task Force also received information that stolen property was inside the residence.

Gariyon Coleman, a 19-year-old Beaumont resident, died from gunshot wounds Thursday, July 19. 

According to a press release by Beaumont Police Department, at 10:09 p.m., Beaumont police responded to 2950 S. 8th St (Sunlight Manor), in reference to shots fired. When Officers arrived on scene, they located a gun shot victim and attempted to render aid, however, the victim was pronounced deceased a short time later by Beaumont EMS. The victim was identified as Coleman. Detectives are seeking information from possible witnesses to this homicide.

June 26, 2018, the Beaumont Police Department Person’s Unit began assisting with a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) homicide investigation in Louisiana. Two Beaumont residents, Ronald Gene McLain, 57, and Kenneth Dawayne Williams, 32, were identified as murder suspects in the CPSO investigation, and warrants were issued for their arrest. BPD detectives assisted CPSO with the investigation for several days. June 29, McLain was arrested in Aransas Pass, Texas, and July 3, Williams turned himself in at the Beaumont Police Department.

Wednesday, July 4, at 9:45 p.m., Beaumont police responded to the intersection of Franklin and Avenue E in reference to a major traffic crash. There were several independent witnesses to the crash and preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a green Buick was southbound on Avenue E and disregarded the stop sign at the intersection with Franklin. A Nissan SUV traveling west on Franklin carrying five occupants was struck by the Buick. As a result of the crash, Landon Slaughter died from his injuries. Landon would have been 4 years old next week.

Friday, June 29, at 10:52 p.m. Beaumont police received a call from Baptist hospital on College Street in reference to victim of a shooting who had just been dropped off. The driver of the vehicle that transported the victim was seen hiding items in the hospital parking lot. Officers quickly located the vehicle and detained two occupants.

Ginger, a 3- to 4-year-old pit bull, is in high spirits after being rescued by Beaumont Fire-Rescue from a house fire and revived.

According to a statement, on Monday, June 26, Beaumont Fire-Rescue responded to multiple calls of a house on fire in the 1300 block of Evalon. Fire department crews arrived within three minutes of the first 911 call.
