A Silsbee man is dead after hitting an animal with his motorcycle, losing control, and crashing into a culvert.

On Sunday, Sept. 7 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the driver of a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle, 45-year-old Michael Hudson, was traveling southbound on Fresenius Road in Silsbee when he struck an animal in the roadway. The motorcycle veered off the road and struck a culvert.

A collision between a semi-trailer truck and a pickup truck Thursday morning, March 12 caused a Highway 73 road closure and has sent a Bridge City man to the hospital.

At approximately 7:02 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 73 near Highway 124 involving a truck tractor semi-trailer and a Dodge pickup truck.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety commissioned 102 men and women as Highway Patrol troopers during the recruit graduation ceremony. Attorney General Greg Abbott was the keynote speaker during the ceremony, which was held at Great Hills Baptist Church.

The new troopers will report to duty stations across Texas in the coming weeks and spend the first six months in on-the-job training.
