Law enforcement officers are searching for 19-year-old Melissa Ringhardt of Vidor after she allegedly violated the terms of her probation on charges of Endangering a Child resulting from an October 21, 2013 incident in which five-year-old John "Johnny" Allen Read fatally shot himself while Ringhardt, his babysitter, was asleep on the job, according to Orange County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Clint

Wednesday, July 2, at 2:14 am, officers responded to a robbery at Walmart at 4145 Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Two black males entered the store, popped a secured drawer, removed a large amount of cash and threatened an employee. The suspects ran towards Kohl’s to a black Chevrolet Impala. A third suspect was in the drivers seat.

The Museum of the Gulf Coast is holding an exciting event Wednesday, July 2, at which attendees will be taken on a journey back in time, according to a press release from the Lamar State College-Port Arthur.

The Beaumont Independent School District’s proposed Reduction in Force (RIF) failed to garner support from the school district’s Board of Trustees when the matter of cutting more than 100 teaching positions came to vote Monday, June 30. One board trustee, Tom Neild, was out of town for the meeting.
