The Examiner received multiple honors at the 25th annual Press Club of Southeast Texas Excellence in Media Awards, held Friday, June 10, at the MCM Eleganté Hotel and Conference Center in Beaumont.

In addition to winning first place in Overall Excellence and best Website News, Examiner staff won individual honors across several categories.

A time of celebration and congratulations, the event was not without an underscored purpose – to bring together a party that recently completed primary races that, by their very nature, can divide a unified force.

A Beaumont woman police and prosecutors say murdered her fiancé over a bad Mother’s Day gift in 2012 was in court this week claiming she acted in self-defense rather than out of malice.
