Christus Health Southeast Texas hosted a Community Planning Luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 14, ahead of the new period of enrollment in the Affordable Care Act, set to begin Nov. 15 and last 90 days. The luncheon invited community leaders from all over Southeast Texas to learn about the Affordable Care Act, a national health reform law and federal statute passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama, how it works and how they can identify the uninsured and help them get covered.

A two-vehicle crash on FM 366 at Detroit in Nederland involving a dump truck and passenger vehicle has sent both drivers to the hospital, where one died, and prompted a Hazmat response due to a diesel spill on the roadway Wednesday, Oct. 22.

Detectives with the Orange Police Department are still investigating a stabbing that took place Oct. 20 at the Sabine Park Apartments at about 8:15 p.m., according to a news release from OPD.
